Glades 2013

As we pulled up to the boatyard after driving 4 days and 2900km, we both felt a twinge of anxiety at the prospect of what we might find.  But much to our surprise, our old friend was in pretty good shape.  So now it was time to buckle down and do some boat yard chores.

During our time at Glades boat yard we experienced the following:

- Dead bugs. A lot of dead bugs
- Mold and mildew - although not as much as we anticipated - phew!
- Getting busted for having our ladder upside down and not actually attached to the boat (yeah Matt won't actually let me put that in)
- Food poisoning (Marianne...24 hrs hours of hell in a hot dirty dusty boat yard)
- A pretty nasty foot injury (Matt), after stepping on an iphone charger (damn, those things are dangerous)
- Patching holes with Marine tex
- Tightening the stuffing box
- Engine tune up
- 7 loads of dank musty laundry
- Sun!
- Incredible mud structures all over the boat made by mud daubers which were equally impressive and disgusting.
- And more!

So yeah, it wasn't all pretty. But Maranatha sure was! By the time she received a bit of love and was back in the water she felt like our old boat again. Hooray!

  1. Yay! The boat blog is back online! I remember coming back to our boat after storage once and there were huge mushrooms growing out of the carpets everywhere. I remember it like it was yesterday even though I was probably four. It was nuts. Have a great trip!
